Angelica Clark is an artist from South Philadelphia with a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art from Cazenovia College in Cazenovia, NY. Clark enjoys the process of making art and the journey art takes her through, rather than the outcome of her work. She enjoys the challenge of creating interesting and thought-provoking abstract pieces with only the primary colors and white paint. Clark uses bright colors in her paintings to convey emotion and dimension to the audience. She uses forks, wires, corks and palette knives to scratch the surface and create movement throughout each painting.
Clark’s inspiration derives from her love of nature, her imagination and how the music that she listens to while painting makes her feel. She enjoys using thick layers of acrylic paint, the color mixing that happens when moving the paint around on the canvas and the act of scratching into the layers in order to create depth and interesting lines on the surface of the work. Clark likes painting abstractly because each viewer brings their perspective to her work and there is never a wrong interpretation of her paintings.
